1. Davos Is The First Person To Discover Jon’s Body
The sixth season of Game of Thrones was an outlier. Generally speaking, the weaker seasons of the show were those not based upon George R.R. Martin’s published novels – such as Season 8, for example.
Season 6, on the other hand, presented fans with ten solid episodes, several of which were amongst the best the show had to offer.
‘The Battle of the Bastards’ was particularly good. Though the arrival of the Knights of the Vale was predictable, the pure carnage and brutality of this episode made for gripping television, and it was great to finally witness Ramsay’s demise.
Episode 5 was also a highlight. ‘The Door’ managed to make Bran’s storyline – which could often be a little dull – tense and fascinating in equal measure, and the revelation concerning Hodor was one of the most beautifully sad moments in the whole show.
As such, Season 6 had plenty of memorable moments despite the producers not having Martin’s published novels to help. It’s a shame, therefore, that the quality of the show dipped so dramatically in the last two seasons.
